I am an ordinary woman, just like many of you. I have a job, a husband, children, grandchildren, pets and a home.
I also have a hobby, and it’s a big one. I like to ride my bike, and I like to ride it a long way. I write a women’s cycling blog about my adventures, thoughts and general cycling inspiration. This is Mawonavelo.com
Before 2008 however, I was an occasional rider. Until I decided, on a bit of a whim, to do something big. I embarked on a charity ride, across the mountains of Northern Vietnam. It was both terrifying and exciting, and it’s led me to where I am now.
That ride, in fact the final climb, made me realise that most of us have no idea what we are capable of if we never move out of our comfort zone. We miss out on so much adventure in life by not taking that first step into the unknown. Fear, lack of confidence or simply procrastination holds us back.
In 2020, I stepped up my own cycling journey, and became the first woman to record a world record time for riding from Lands End to John O’Groats and back again, in a time of 11 days, 13 hours and 13 minutes.
As a qualified life coach and NLP Practitioner I felt that the time was right to now help more women to experience that buzz of doing something exciting, to seek out adventure, and to be extraordinary.
